Where Fish Don't Swim in Water, They Fly in Space!!
March 12, 2004, 03:36 pmThis week almost killed me. Too many clients demanding too much stuff. I had a big site launch last Friday: a user management tool/online ordering/authentication system replacing a horrible online ordering system I wrote nearly four years ago. It was the first big PHP project I ever did and it was a horrible kluge. I'm glad to not have the nightmare of maintaining crappy code!
And then yesterday, I launched a rewrite of a web application I'd been working on for a number of months for my biggest client. It started off a little rough (a small Apache misconfiguration was causing the site to be Forbidden after X number of accesses!), but I'm working through all the problems and it's manageable.
It's good to finally get all this stuff off my plate!
Lots of work has been done on the demo this week: Joe finishing up vocals, Mike doing his guitar tracks on the six new songs, tons of mixing, and preliminary mastering. I can't stop listening to the demo! The first time I heard Struck By Lightning my jaw dropped! It sounds so huge... it's like the Dune soundtrack by Toto (which is a good thing, I think).
I'm so fucking proud of it, I just want to sit everyone I know down (preferably in front of some nice speakers) and make them listen to it! Brian said some other engineers that he works with heard it and said they liked it. Oh man, I love it.
Tonight we have the show with Black Cross, Ten to Midnight, a Suburban Blood Drive, Retisonic, and Blood In/Blood Out. We're playing second, so hopefully there'll be a lot of people there. We burned a buncha demos to sell and give out. I'm psyched.
We just found out today that we got on last minute on a show on Wednesday. I love playing out!
Amber and I are hanging out Saturday and I'm incredibly excited about that.
Monday is my dad's 55th birthday. I think Sunday we'll all hang out at the cabin. I need figure out what to get him.
So that's it. I've been incredibly busy and I have lots to do, but things are good and I'm excited. Tired, but happy.
