What's Up?
September 09, 2005, 04:28 pmMaybe you're wondering what I've been up to. Last weekend, Nickie and I went to my parents' cabin and hung out with them. Then we crashed a "hootenanny" where Nickie and I blew everyone away with our impromptu, harmonized version of Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road. Then s'mores.
I've been working on a lot of songs and I demoed one of them the past two nights, and I also demoed a new arrangement of Hello There Moon which I think will work out pretty well. We have so much stuff in the works it can be a little overwhelming. I'm looking forward to getting back in the studio and having momentum and getting songs down.
When demoing at home, I'm starting to not really care how good the sound quality is. I'll just throw up a mic or DI a bass or keyboard and just get it down, because I know it's going to be re-recorded eventually. I think it's more productive. Like last night, I recorded a single-mic drum track, just for an example to see how the song will sound with drums, and it was distorted and clipped, but who cares? It helps to get the general idea.
Why am I typing this? Seriously, who cares?
Maybe I feel a little guilty for not having written anything.
Work has been pretty good and I've actually been pretty productive. I'm trying to get stuff off my plate and actively get things out of the way. Or something.
