The Secret Behind “Befriends” and “Ensues.”

I believe that “befriends” and “ensues” are words that are only used when describing the plot to movies:

A young girl befriends an autistic boy who believes he can fly. Hilarity and romance ensue.

(That plot belongs to The Boy Who Could Fly in which Fred Savage sprays a bully with a watergun filled with “piss.” Obviously, a classic.)
