The End of Hyrule
April 06, 2003, 07:04 pmI just finished the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker and it was pretty awesome. My complaints are few:
- I think it's a little disturbing that Link has a sister and grandmother in this one. In previous games, the whole fate of the character and sense that he is truly meant to be the hero of the game stems from the fact that he's an orphan or doens't have a fairy or something. I dunno. It's just a little weird to be out killing legendary, huge monsters and then stop by granny's house for some soup.
- the third iteration of the pre-Gannon boss: sucks. What a lame, pain in the ass! I'm serious.
- you have to get 8 pieces of the triforce... but not in dungeons or anything, just drag em' up from the bottom of the sea. But you have to get the 8 maps of the triforce pieces. And you also have to get those maps deciphered from Tingle (who is really creepy). the whole get-maps-then-get-them-deciphered-then-find-the-pieces thing seemed like a lame way to increase the length of gameplay.
It may seem like I'm complaining, but I really, really enjoyed the game. I'm sure that I'll play it through a couple more times, as there are many mini-games I never finished and all kinds of treasure maps I didn't get.
I guess next up will be Splinter Cell (for GCN, of course – there's no way in hell that I'd waste my money on an Xbox).
