Spenderisms / Save Me Yuji Naka!

Don't tell JB, but I was a spender this weekend. I got the Phil Spector box set Back to Mono, Ronnie Spector's She Talks to Rainbows (which was produced by Joey Ramone... and is really horrible!), the Ramones' End of the Century and Sparklehorse's vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionpilot. Why, yes, I did listen to Be My Baby about 100 times last night, and, yes, I agree that it is probably among the best two-and-a-half minutes of recorded music ever (among the ranks of Son of a Preacher Man).

I also played a lot of videogames. I finally finished Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows (I hadn't played since before Christmas). I was in the mood for another Metroid-style game, so I got Metroid: Zero Mission: pretty fun, but ridiculously short. Also, I really hated the “sneaking” part of the game at the end. It was not well done and felt like it was just kluged on to the end to add original content to the game. If I wanted to play a sneaking game, I'd play Metal Gear Solid.

Which I did. Since I beat Metroid: Zero Mission so quickly, I went out and got Metal Gear Solid: the Twin Snakes. I've played the original Metal Gear Solid a buncha times, on both PSX and on Dreamcast (thanks to the awesome bleem!cast emulator!). This is definitely the most fun. I probably should've waited a few more months 'til it's cheaper, though.

I watched the trailer for Phantasy Star Universe and I have to admit, I'm hopeful. I never got back into PSO on the GCN. I think lately I've been craving some PSO. I miss it! I can't believe they made a PSO card game. How lame is that?! Anyway, I hope Phantasy Star Universe is awesome. It's been a long time since I was impressed by anything SEGA did.
