Somebody's Getting Married.

You probably already know by now, but on Sunday, October 10, 2006, I asked Nickie to marry me and she said yes.

Once I stopped crying, I told Nickie about the process of getting her engagement ring.

It started when I asked her parents for Nickie's hand in marriage. I ended up watching an entire UofL football game with them until I felt like I could ask. And they said yes.

That was when I got Nickie's grandmother's engagement ring, which Nickie had told me she really liked. The ring was old and worn and had been cut off her grandmother's hand after getting caught on a boat ladder.

Next, my mom gave me a pair of earrings that she had made from diamonds that were in my grandmother's engagement ring.

After doing some investigation and having a terrible time at a "jewelry store", I found a jeweler that understood what I wanted and that I felt comfortable with. I gave the diamonds to him and picked out the setting and then waited for what seemed like forever, but was actually about a week.

When I told Nickie this whole process, she said, “You collected stones for me!”

And I said, “Like the Legend of Zelda!

Today we picked the venue (Farmington) and the date, Saturday, September 15, 2007. I'm so excited!
