Recap.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, for your entertainment... a recap of my weekend!

Friday night

We had our show at Uncle Pleasants with Consume Consumer and Carolina. Things got started at a good time, we played pretty well (first time playing Let's All Live Underground), people seemed to like our new shirts, and all the bands got paid decently. I wish more shows went that well.

Afterwards, we went to Cahoots. It was pretty fun, but we stayed so late. I hate staying out late and messing up my sleeping schedule. And smelling like smoke.

Saturday

We lazed around the Merediths Ranch Saturday afternoon. We watched Doc Hollywood and Dog Day Afternoon, and Mark brought Iron Monkey. I wished we could've just stayed in.

We drove to Bloomington, IN to play at this houseparty. We started carrying our stuff in after the first band played only to find cops giving a fine to the kids that lived there. I guess a neighbor complained about the noise. So we packed our stuff up and drove back to Louisville. I think we got home about 3:15 in the morning. Ugh. It could've been worse though and I was glad to be home sooner rather than later.

Sunday

I slept in and didn't do much. I watched Night Shift (with Henry Winkler, Michael Keaton, and Shelley Long) which I had confused with Nightwatch (with Ewan McGregor). Totally different!

I also watched Roman Pulanski's the Pianist and it tore me up. The movie was exhaustingly sad, but then the credits at the end of the movie have show the pianist's hands while he's playing. And it's so amazing. I broke down crying in the kitchen, putting away the dishes... it's tough having your medicrity shoved in your face like that. I haven't been so affected by a movie since I watched Dead Man Walking.

I like to believe that the things worth doing are worth suffering for, like the true definition of the word passion. But seeing someone play so effortlessly and beautifully makes me wonder if I'll ever do anything half as amazing as that. It does inspire me to improve and that's good.
