Lowrey Home Organ!
September 28, 2004, 01:44 pmI am now the proud owner of a Lowrey home organ (I'm not sure the exact model, but I intend to suss it out). Some of its features include:
- two manuals
- pedals (for bass notes)
- pedal for volume/wah control (the switch for enabling wah is labeled “Wow-Wow”!)
- rotating Leslie speaker
- super-cheesy drum machine
- cassette player/recorder with varispeed controls
- reverb
- chorus
- repeat (arpeggiator-like)
Apparently, Pete Townsend used a Lowrey home organ with the repeat to do the intro to Baba O'Riley. And did I mention that I got mine for $50?! Awesome!
The Merediths went to the UofL School of Music last night for a piano/violin Beethoven recital. It was awesome. And humbling. The pianist played kindof like a person imitating playing the piano: really expressive face, arms flapping with dynamics, leaning in close to the music in the intense parts. But they were both really amazing!
