Intense Training.
November 16, 2004, 05:35 pmJoe, Mark, and I went to the violin/piano duet performance at the UofL School of Music last night. It was the second of three performances of some of Beethoven's sonatas. We also went to the first, but this time we sat in the balcony on stage right so we could see the pianist's fingers. Holy shit. One might think that I love being humbled as a musician. And one would be right.
We came back to the ranch and immediately began training. Joe's been learning how to fingerpick (I imagine that this will be like when Donovan tought John Lennon how to fingerpick and he wrote all those amazing, White Album-era, fingerpicking songs (Dear Prudence, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Julia, & Cry Baby Cry). Mark was working on the solo for the new song (which is kindof a 60's-ish, sleezy, rocker... if that makes sense). Jesse has been redefining his bass technique ever since watching Let It Be. And I worked on playing scales through the circle of fifths. Intense training!
I'm sick of looking at my computer, so I will wait until later to tell you all about the amazing knife I bought my mother for Christmas.
