i'm catching up

I was supposed to write about all this stuff a couple of weeks ago, but I've been busy. Oh well. I'm catching up.

Ericka mailed me a copy of the Mountain Goats All Hail West Texas. I have to admit, I like it more than any other Mountain Goats stuff I've heard before. And I don't think I'll ever get over The Best Ever Death Metal Band Outta Denton. Haha. Hail Satan!

My parents got a new car. I say “my parents,” but it's really “my mom.” It bothers me that my dad drives a kinda beatup, not-so-good car. I mean, he's a super-frugal guy and I think that's good, but he drives 90 miles a day to work. He's in his car a lot. It makes me sad to think that there are people -- like my CIS415 teacher who are complete idiots and have no talent, yet still easily make six figures -- driving luxury cars and my dad who has a work ethic exponentially higher than mine yet drives a busted Protegé. But about the new car: it's some crazy Toyota SUV thing.

A few weeks ago, I went to Lexington with my parents (in the new car). And on the way back, I put in The Rolling Stones Hot Rocks. We were rockin' out to Honky Tonk Woman when my mom told me that my dad used to play the intro with silverware every day at college when they would go to the Cafeteria to eat. That just cracks me up.
