i wonder if i'll ever give up videogames....
November 14, 2002, 02:18 pmI got Star Fox Adventures last night. I like it so far. It's so Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time. I mean, the z-targeting combat system, the exaggerated cut scene animation when you get a map or something, the way it turns day and night, the way the music changes when there are bad guys around.... Not that it's a bad thing! Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games ever.
But playing Star Fox Adventures made me appreciate the Penny Arcade strip: May Not Be Spelled Correctly. Hahaha. Bafmodads. I seriously thought they were making that shit up. That fact that there is actually an item in the game called “Bafmodads” is just hilarious.
By the way, when I was looking for that Penny Arcade strip, I was dreading having to manually search through their strips to find the one I wanted to link to. But when I went to the archive section, there was this search option and it works pretty well! It's about time Penny Arcade got a good search feature. I remember looking for the strip about Metroid Prime when everybody thought that its FPS gameplay would be the worst thing to happen ever. With a title like “Count Your Lucky Stars”, would would know it was the one I wanted? But a quick search for “metroid tetris” found it. Aw, yeah.
Speaking of Zelda 64: Ocarina of Time, I'm really excited about the big N including Ocarina of Time and the previously unreleased Ura-Zelda with a special edition release of Legend of Zelda: Kaze no Takuto. Wow. What a great idea!
I'm glad that Nintendo knows that they've made great games in the past and have no problem re-releasing them on newer hardware. I like to think that kids that are getting a GBA or GCN will play these older, but refreshed games. Just because the Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past came out in 1991 doesn't mean it isn't a great videogame!
