I Have Fallen Hard.
December 18, 2003, 12:08 amLast night, I brought the microKORG over to Joe and Jesse's house to work on synth parts for the Merediths songs. I have parts, but I wanted to see if they had suggestions. Instead, we ended up writing a new song. It's not entirely new to me, since I've had the basic idea for the chorus and verse for maybe five months, but I hadn't formed it into a cohesive song.
It's getting really good! I wrote this very Radiohead, grooving bass line that Jesse is playing and the song features prominent synth parts! I can't wait to hear the song full band at Merediths practice tomorrow.
Tonight, we had the-other-still-unnamed-band practice and it went pretty well. We worked on two new songs, in addition to the new song that John started last band practice. It's starting to come together. We just need to finish & polish those three songs and choose a name (as Brian said, “we need a name. it's just like the neverending story, sweet.”).
As you may have guessed, I have totally fallen in love with Grandaddy, particularly with their song, Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground). I recorded an acoustic version of it with Ardour. It also features my first efforts at recording with my new Kurzweil ME-1. So download my acoustic cover of Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground) in mp3 format.
