Goings On.

There has been hardly any sleep the past three nights for reasons reminiscent of the true meaning of passion: to suffer for what you love (which I guess in this case is girls and music).

The show last night was pretty good. It was incredibly hot & humid and there weren't many people there, but it was still fun. Oh, and I totally fucked up the intro to Homo Erectus but that's okay... no big deal.

(Half of) the Elephants played. I love Jason's voice. Whenever I hear his songs, I can imagine these huge arrangements. I want to record some Elephants songs. They closed with Phoney Balogna and in place of drums, Jason would stomp the floor shaking the reverb plate of his amp resulting in a spaced-out tintinnabulation! It was awesome!

While I was walking to my car this morning, I was thinking about one of the new songs Joe has been working on. It ends with this long build-up while he sings “Sunshine saved my life.” When we've been working on it, I've been playing piano on that part doing these huge arpeggios and big majestic chord crashes. And this morning I was imagining tubular bells, string sections, choirs, suspended bass drums, triangle rolls, and crash cymbals. My heart raced.
