George Lucas on Akira Kurosawa
February 20, 2007, 01:34 pmNickie and I recently watched the Hidden Fortress and there was an interview with George Lucas on the DVD. He mostly tried to say that he didn't lift as much stuff from Kurosawa as he actually did for Star Wars, but the best part of the interview was when he said something like this:
Someone asked Kurosawa, "What is in your movies? What are your movies about?"
And Kurosawa said, "My movies are about the questions, 'Why can't people be happier?' and 'Why can't people be happier together?'"
