C'mon Danny!

I was reading this TapeOp interview with John Rudd, an Orchestral Scoring Recordist. Here he talks about recording Danny Elfman's score for the Planet of the Apes

I am working with mixer Denis Sands on that one, recording a Danny Elfman score. We are recording a large orchestra on two 24 track analog Studers plus the 72 tracks of synths go onto a Sony 3348HR 24 bit digital 48 track and another 24 track analog. Our SSL has 96 in line channels, so that is actually 192 inputs and we had to bring in an additional 24 channel sidecar console to handle all the extra inputs. I have never seen anything like it. You could not even see the patchbays because of all the cabling. We are mixing down to 24 tracks.

Jesus. Seventy-two tracks of synths?! What the Hell?!
